I am making a knitted patchwork blanket. I want it to be twin size. I am accumulating alot of squares, do I sew them together w/ yarn or do I sew them together with thread?

  1. I would definitely recommend yarn. It's stronger (thicker) and it will blend in with the squares better.  I crochet, but I would imagine that the technique would be the same as with knitting. The following web-site shows the best strategy for sewing things together. Hope this helps. Have fun!!!

  2. You whip stitch them with matching YARN. Not thread. Lay them face together and match up the chains going up the side. Then lay the tail of the yarns up the line and whip stitch it catching only the back loops or you can do both loops. Be sure not to pull it too tight. At the end just run your needle back down through about 5 or 6 stitches and clip off neatly.

You can use a single crochet but that is harder. Single in one chain on one block then in one on the next block alternating chains as you go up the side of the block.

I like to put together a row the length I want the piece to be, then get all the rows done, then stitch those rows together in pairs then stitch the pairs of rows together.

does my thoughts make any sense? Not thinking clearly tonight.
