I picked up a couple of rats from Petco yesterday and I'm very excited. They were surprisingly cheap, but they're in good health. My parents aren't exactly wild about rodents, especially rats (what a surprise when I brought home mice a while ago!) But I know rats are clean, intelligent and fairly cheap to look after. They'll find out sooner or later... Actually I need to break the news soon because I found someone whose having a moving sale and person in charge agreed to sell me a 30" x 36" x 16" cage complete w/ litter pan, food dispenser and water bottle all for just $15! I have to get it by this weekend or I'll probably lose the deal! And I can't just borrow the car without saying exactly what I'm going to do (especially w/ freaking high gas prices). It's only a few miles out and I'm willing to use only my funds for this! But I don't know how my parents will react when I tell them I got rats. Please help, I can't miss this deal; going to Petco for this equipment would cost at least $120! How do I explain that rats aren't nasty and don't smell? I got a pair of females.
I have my rats in small, temporary shelter, but they'll soon move to a "manor" if all goes well. They're very young, which makes me even more determined to keep them because they'll be easier to tame and train to become loyal pets.
P.S. I'm not the kind of person that looks go behind others' backs, but sometimes I get tired of being vetoed and make my own decisions (never bad ones, however!)
