Hi, I'm gonna join band for school, and I'm gonna play sax. I'm using my bro's old one, and I need to know how to insert the reed into the mouthpiece. I've tried several times, with several different ones, but they dont seem to fit. And these are ones my bro used befor, but i just dont kno how he got them in! The opening seems too small. Or am i just putting it in wrong?

  1. well it sounds like you are trying to put it in the hole but thats completely wrong

you put it on top of the hole thingy on the mouthpiece

or maybe you have the wrong kind of reed

you might be using a tenor sax reed for an alto sax or vice versa

  2. hahahaaaaa. you put the reed in between the flat part of the mouthpiece and the circular metal brace thingy. make sure that the top of the reed (the curved part) is lined up with the curved part of the mouthpiece.

    good luck.

  3. Did you loosen it before you tried to put it on? That might help. Also I would suggest searching online if that wasn't the problem. Or ask the band leader. Its not to hard.
