I need to know how to become a better high jumper and hurdler, I jumped 6 ft freshman year but I was a little disappointed in that, my hurdles time is a good bit slower this year after moving up 6 inches in hurdle height. I want to become faster over the summer and through the fall to be ready for Spring Track.I've heard plyometrics are great for both sprinting speed and for vertical leap, but no one has told me what specific exercises. Can you tell me what exercises would help with high jump and the 110 hurdles? Or does anyone know a site with specific plyo drills to increase sprinting speed and vertical? Thanks in advance

  1. Just keep on practiceing

  2. yeah , plyometrics and sprinting are so good but its better to do a 6-8 week strength program in summers to get a greater power , your program should contains heavy weights in low reps ( less than 5 ) , and lighter weights but with high acceleration ( the best example are Olympic lifts ) , and plyometrics and sprinting . and at last stretching not for only warm up , you must to stretch because it has a great influence on your jumping.

go to bodybuilding.com and read article ''21 weeks jump program'' by doctor squat , for the knowing type of your plyos read ''10 explosive exercises'' by matt brughelli , and all of related articles are use full to get knowledge . . . go and plan a program that best for your own body !
