How Do I connect My DVD Player To My PC?

Hi folks,

I have recorded something from the TV onto DVD RW via my DVD player. I was hoping to be able to transfer it directly to my PC, but it doesn't work. On further read through of the instruction book, it said in order to do so, the DVD would have to be 'finalised'. I would like to be able to record onto it again and so this option is not satisfactory to me. Is it possible therefore, to perhaps hook my PC or laptop directly to the DVD player and transfer it that way? Is there an AV to USB cable which can be bought or anything similar? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

firewire, or if your dvd player has usb do it with that.
