I got my wisdom teeth but out on Tuesday and of course I know you will be in pain for a while but I am still in bad pain. I called the doctor on call and said that I more than likely have dry socket. I work in a psych unit and last night was my first day back. One of my patients hit me in the face while changing his brief. I thought I was going to die. I had to call in to work for tonight because the pain is so bad. The pain killers he prescribed are barely touching it. I have been trying hot and cold to the face but still not helping much. I wont be able to get in until next week. Plus I have to go back into work Sunday night. Does anyone have suggestions on something that can help with the pain.

  1. I would get out the phone book and on the net and find a dentist who will help you on Sunday.  I had that a few years ago, and you know what finally eased the pain? When the dentist clipped out a suture on the socket. Immediate relief. So sometimes it's the pain of sutures in a swelled and already painful area.

Or call the doctor on call again and tell him you could lose your job if you have to call in sick again, and that you could be a danger to patients while in this state, and vice versa like you getting hit in the face.

If none of that works go to the E.R. and scream and cry!

My heart goes out to you. You can't go to work in that shape.

  2. You need to see a dentist as they need to clean out the socket and fill medication in it
