Question:

How Do I hook up my home entertainment system?

I have a home theater receiver, 5.1 surround speakers, two VCRs, a DVD Recorder, Direct TV Satellite Receiver/DVR combo, a large screen TV and a DVD player.

My system is not HD. Are better cables such as DVI and HDMI really better? Thanks!

  1. DVI wont come into play here. HDMI is the best, but sounds like you cant use that anyway, so use component (RCA) cables for your video and sound. It will still sound good. If any of your components use HDMI, use those if you can.

Note: DO NOT buy expensive HDMI cables, unless you have to cover more than 20'. If you only need short ones, get them on Amazon--they're only $5 each delivered and they work great.

For hook up, you'll have to look at your receiver's manual. It's pretty easy.

  2. if u dont have HD then you cant use  HDMI and your surround sound system should have a manuel or go online to maker of it and find it. you can use component cables for better quality I think.  Buy an HD tv and they make it so easy to hook up cables any ways.
