How Do I remove carpet glue off hardwood floors ?

Just pulled up the glued down carpet in the livingroom to find nice looking hardwood floors. But they are covered with Glue . Dont have much money or time. what would the best and quikest way to get that removed .Thanks for any help.

Try nail polish remover - I don't know how thick the glue is or try eucalyptus oil.

The best thing I have found is called 3M Adhesive Remover.  It comes in an aerosol can and is sold at Menards, Home Depot, etc.  (see picture http://images.orgill.com/200x200/6013536...  Depending on the type of glue, quantity, etc. this stuff might do the trick.  It is about $5.00 for a can.  I use it to remove glue and tacky stuff of everything.  The best way to use it, by the way, is to spray it on and let it soak in for about 4 minutes.  Set a timer b/c if you wait too long you won't get good results.  Then take something with a flat edge, like a paint scraper or kitchen spatula and scrape away the glue.

Call a floor man and let him look at it........there's a lot of things that will take it off.....but they might ruin the finish. See if someone can buff the stuff off with a light oil....I'm talking power buffer.......best to talk to a pro......ya it's easy to say refinish.......but that's time and money and moving a lot of stuff. but that might be the only answer........at least you found hardwood...........could be particle board lol .....nite

Being short of money is one thing, being short of time and desire is another. Basically its' a question of elbow grease. Chip off what you can and sand the rest. There is no lazy way to remodel. Sweat equity means exactly that. If its' a rental unit, schmooze your landlord or learn to live with it. This kind of built-up c**p has no simple chemical solution.

you will probably have to refinish the floor anyway. scrape as much glue as possible, then use a solvent to remove the rest.

sand and refinish floor. there is no quick easy and "cheap" way to do it that's just the reality.
