  1. chipping putting wedge play . not just 5 or 10 chips every day for at least 30 minutes take just wedges to drining range three times weekly large pail good luck

  2. I'm a golfer with a relatively high handicap but I belong to a private club and the people with the best handicaps say to perfect your short game.  If you drive that far, are your drives usually in the fairway?  If not, you might want to consider teeing off with a three wood.  Good luck!

  3. The shot in golf that everyone needs to be perfect on are shots from 100 yards and in, these shots are your scoring shots! If you can pull out a sand wedge and knock it stiff to 5 to 10 feet, chances are you can make that putt. So work on yoru sand wedge and pw shots to knock them stiff. Also putting is key. Remember the phrase drive for show putt for dough. You win by making puts, so if you practice putting and chipping so you can get up and down and practice getting those shots 100 yards and in close to give you opportunites then you will drop strokes in no time

  4. take less shots

  5. Hit the green two putt make par. miss less greens that's the key people say short game  but it ain't so hit the green make more pars and birdies. if you can hit 6 out of 9 greens per nine you will shoot anywhere from 2 under to 3 over consistently. Short game is very helpful to bail you out but the real key is not to be in the bunker in the first place. So again hit the green and you will make many pars. People always say practice From 100 yards and in OK that's good but how often are you 100 yards from the green? A 435 yard par 4 dog leg left is not likely going to leave you 100 yards shot. The key is to practice 7 irons 5 irons 9 irons and wedges. Just watch TV or play tiger woods on PlayStation and you will see that each hole is different. even a 380 par 4 might only allow you to hit it 240 of the tee because of trouble. Hit more greens in regulation it doesn't matter how just more pros have a 70% greens in reg at least the good ones. This will automatically drop your score. Lets say you miss a green and make bogie.

You can still string of 5 pars in a row by hitting the middle of the green and maybe out of those 5 holes a birdie or two. Really dont listen to anyone who says work on putting chipping short game etc... Of course saving par is helpful but try making more pars not saving them. Good luck work on those irons and shoot lower scores.

  6. It's like they say in golf.  Drive for show, putt for dough.  Your short game is obviously lacking.  That is what you should be working on the most.  That is how you score.  Sure it's helpful to hit the ball a country mile, but if you can't putt the ball in the hole what does it matter?  I realized early on that I could still make par even if I didn't hit any greens in regulation.  I also don't care about making a bogey.  I can manage to make a birdie or two to make up for it.  Cut down on the double and triple bogeys and your score will drop significantly.  My best score ever was a day that I didn't make a single birdie.  I also didn't hit a lot of greens on that day either.  The short game is my best friend on the course.

  7. 67% of all your shots come from within 60 yards from the pin.  Consequently, you must work very hard on your chipping, pitching, flops, escape shots and, most of all, your putting.

When it comes to putting, most Ams will more than certainly 3 or 4-putt very long putts.  A great way to save shots and, obviously, lower your scores is to practice lag putting from 50, 60 and 70+ feet.  If you can two-putt these more often, you'll save a ton of shots.

  8. practice a "Go to" shot.  example, if you really get good at a 100 yard shot, then always aim for that mark so that you have a 100 yard shot on your approach.. you don't need to use driver for every driving hole..

next thing to work on is practice 10 foot putts from different slopes..  if you can hit it close from your go to shot, then you'll have a lot of 10 foot or less putts..

  9. Work on your short game(chipping, pitching, putting).   Thats where you save strokes.

  10. if youve got your driving and fairway shots down pat then you probably need to work on your short game.
