Ive heard laxative make you lose weight, like a lot of people with eating disorders will use them. I by all means dont intend on doing this nor do I need to lose weight, but I am curious how it works, does a laxative basically make food go right through you?

  1. Laxatives make you p**p. After taking them for an extended period of time your body will not be able to do that function on it's own.

  2. I think it flushes out your whole intestines and gets rid of everything. You'll probally end up on the toilet for a while.

  3. Laxatives make you p**p. So you eat then take laxatives and then instead of it staying in you;; you p**p it out..

  4. The laxatives increase the bowel activity, and with this feature, they do not allow the large intestine to absorb food where most of the food content gets absorbed.  Just to list a fact, the food does not get absorbed in the small intestines.  It is also known that if the laxatives are taken in large amounts for a greater period of time, they affect the absorption of the fats in the body.  This leads to greasy diarrhea and this in turn results in weight loss.

  5. They don't, they just make you feel miserable.

  6. It does not make food go right through you without digesting, it works on food that has already been digested.  Laxatives are used by irregular and constipated people.  The weight you loose is a result of loosing poo that was already there.

  7. They force waste(old and new) out the colon but they are dangerous especially if taken in the amounts needed to lose weight. If you use laxatives for a long period of time it can do serious damage to your colon and even make you dependant. Oh and if your wondering why they make you poo it's because they irritate your colon and it wants to get rid of the irratant as fast as possible.

  8. u throw up all the food before digest and starve urself.  Might cause enorexia or death

  9. Yeah. That's pretty nasty-don't do it!

  10. when you eat, your body absorbs all of the nutritional content, then you pass the rest of what is left usually a semi-solid p**p, this is called metabolizing. taking a laxative is going help you bypass alot of the metabolizing and go strait to pooping it out, but it will be runny, because your body did not absorb the liquids in the food and just got rid of it. it is almost like binge eating and purging, except you get a little more nutrition. either way it is not good because you starve your body and when this happens, our body gets desperate and metabolizes you. your fat and your muscle, so you will lose both fat and muscle and your scale will show a lower number.

fyi more muscle= more calories burned by your body= higher metabolism= easier to keep fat off.

  11. It clears your colon. Your Colon holds allot of waste and flushes your system. You tend to lose allot of water too. So by losing this you will see a difference on the scale
