I was wondering what some officers have to do to move up in their rankings and what things can also move them down.

  1. The answer to both is the same... performance.

    Exceptional performance gets you promoted. Substandard performance gets you demoted.


  2. Most major departments have promotional exams. Usually an officer gets demoted by doing something wrong.
