Have you ever seen a soda stream ? this makes flat drinks fizzy by injecting carbon dioxide gas into it.

The major drinks manufactures simply do this on a far larger scale. The process is called carbonation, and occurs when you dissolve carbon dioxide in a liquid.

They basically 'inject' it with Carbon Dioxide (and hydrogen, I think - not as sure about that one though) - but certainly Carbon Dioxide
