How Do We Play MARBLES, I Can't Remember?

Question

Hey Everybody, does anyone remember how to play MARBLES? Not only remember how to PLAY, but how to KEEP SCORE and What MARBLES YOU USE TO SHOOT With. I don't remember anything about this game.

The marbles you use to shoot with are the ones that are larger and about the circumference of a dollar, as opposed to the little ones that are penny-sized. You keep score simply; whichever marbles get knocked out of the circle by a player are collected by them.

The way we used to play marbles in the school fields in Oregon was that as many people who wanted to play could play.  You'd look at each others' marbles to see if they were okay because you'd get to keep the marble.  You'd take your marble and shoot it into the grass holding it cupped in your index finger and popping it out with your thumb.  Everybody would get one shot and then you'd keep to that order.  The point was to hit someone's marble with your marble.  If you hit it, then you'd get to keep it.  The problem is that if you tried to hit it, but missed, then it would be close to the marble and when it was his turn then he could hit your marble.  Assuming of course that someone else doesn't get you before then.  So you'd have to decided if you were really gonna go for the kill, or make it close enough that he would try and kill you.  This was all made difficult by thick grass and rocks and so forth that we played in.  We didn't like playing marbles in a circle, because that was like shooting fish in a barrel.

Ok first use a marble to draw a circle. Then you and your opponent put in some marble inside the circle.

Next draw a line a few meter away from the circle (depend on how far u guys want.)

Now both of u stand behind the circle and throw the marble u want to use to the lin u drew. Whoever marble stop closes to the line will go first.

Player position has been choose so now go behind the line and throw your marble and try to hit those marble in the cirlcle out of the circle.

Once a marble or marbles have been hit out it will belongs to the person who hit it out. Once u fail to hit out any marble out of the circle will be next player turn and if your marble that u use to throw ends in the circle u will be consider as out of the game.

Well, the marbles i used to play involved

1.making a circle out of chalk and putting all the marbles we had inside the circle.

2.we would keep one to shoot with (ussually the best looking or pretiest one)

3.then we would position the marble with your thumb and your pointer finger and shoot.

4. any marbles that came out of the circle when the shooter shot their marble would be yours and you keep going until you cant get any marbles out and then it would be the next persons turn.
