I adopted a feral kitten! Her names is Lily! She a cutie! Anyways, feral cats usually have pointier ears.

feral cats are wild cats and they will run from you and not let you get even close enough to touch them. they will hiss, and scratch and try to bite you. we had one at the humane society i work at and she was terrible. you pretty much had to corner her if you wanted to catch her and if you went to pet her she would cower and her ears would lay back and she would more often than not hiss. she ended up going to a barn, thank god.

Running from humans

Agressive

Skinny

Maybe sickly looking

Dont go near the cat you 'think' is feral!

By their ears, no joke. Feral cats have very long pointy ears and like the others say, they aren't very friendly and quite scared of you.

They won't allow humans to touch them or even get close.  They generally don't meow at humans because they don't expect anything from them.  They may eat food you put down but only after you have retreated to a safe distance away or have left entirely.

There are semi-feral cats that will let you get a bit closer, or may meow at you for food but won't let you touch them.

Once past kittenhood, it's pretty much impossible to tame a feral cat.

Believe me, you will know. Having tamed many feral cats and kittens, it is immediately apparent if they are feral. If you get too close, or look at them the wrong way, they will bolt. If you are training one, they will hiss, scratch, and attemp to bite you. It is a lot of work!

Ferals run if you make eye contact and you can never get closer than 50 feet to them. They do NOT trust humans at all.
