How Do You Find The Name Of the Railroad Someone Worked On During The 30's ,40's and 50's?

Looking for someone that could give me a way to find out what railroad someone once worked for.A depot agent.If someone could help put me on a lead to f ind the answer it would be deeply appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Do you know the railroad's initials? Like PRR or NYC? That would help greatly  in your search. Since there have been so many mergers and take overs you might try this link:
