  4. "AntiVirus XP 2008" is the name of a nasty virus that infected many users. If you take a good look at Yahoo Answer Computer Security.

Every hour, there is someone asking the same question.

To answer your question, you can install CLAMWIN.

ClamWin is a Free Antivirus for Microsoft Windows

that uses the GNU General Public License by the Free Software

Foundation and is free (as in freedom) software.

There is a portable version of ClamWin where it can be install into an USB pendrive as small as 64 MB.

First use another PC to download Clamwin portable anti-virus

and install Clamwin portable on a USB thumb drive.

    http://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/c...

Update the latest anti-virus definition files.

Set the preferences to delete or move virus to a quarantine folder.

    How to configure ClamWin

    http://support.real-time.com/open-source...

When the USB pendrive is ready.

Boot up the infected PC in safe mode.

If possible, disable system restore on the infected PC.

Run the Clamwin Anti-virus that is installed on the USB drive to scan the infected PC.

Scan all hard drives for viruses.

  8. What is this "thing" called Antivirus XP 2008? Where did you get it from? It sounds scary that you go to regedit and delete files! I am sorry, what you are saying does not make sense to me.

And what is the second antivirus program you have on your computer anyway? If you have uninstalled it, it is gone. You don't have to go to the registry editor and do anything else.

    You are all set!

  9. you use spy hunter 3

  10. I got the virus couple days ago actually and used this. Got this from an answer.

First you need to stop the program from loading on startup. This is what you do to stop it:

    Start, run

    Type msconfig

    Go to Startup tab

    Uncheck lphc35dj0e1an

    Uncheck rhc75dj0e1an

    Click apply, then ok

    Restart computer

Then you need to delete the main files this program uses. Delete the following file:

    C:\windows\system32\lphc35dj0e1an.exe

Delete the following folder and all contents:

    C:\program files\rhc75dj0e1an

This should remove the program from your system but you probably still have a warning message displayed as your wallpaper in Windows and the virus removed the ability to change the wallpaper or your desktop settings.

To restore ability to change your desktop settings and select a different wallpaper and screen saver do the following:

    Start, run

    type Gpedit.msc

Navigate to User configuration, Administrative Templates, Control Panel, Display

Right click on Remove Display in Control Panel

Click on Properties and select Disabled

Do the same steps to change the following attributes to disabled:

    Hide Desktop Tab

    Prevent changing wallpaper

    Hide Apperance and Themes tab

    Hide Settings tab

    Hide Screen Saver tab

You should now be able to use your computer normally and change the wallpaper to something other than the warning message Antivirus XP 2008 set it to.

If there are the reboot into Safe Mode and run FixVundo again.

If your desktop has changed or icons are missing also use:

    Wallpaper Hijacker Removal Tool:

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/Wallpaper_Hija...

Note: You should hit all "Repair" buttons even though it may not say "Found!" This will fix a wallpaper hijack everytime if all repair buttons are pressed.

    EDIT:

@old_skool_doofDj - Spyware Doctor is recommended to use alongside Malwarebytes, and has been tried and tested to remove Antivirus 2008 and its variations.  It is a malicious codec NOT a Vundo trojan as you state.

Along with many others, I have successfully used these combinations to remove this parasite, and the Vundo Fix is included as a safety precaution.

Get your facts right before bad mouthing other contributors and also there are few recommendations to use antivirus programs to remove this.

PS: If you have had this 5 times as you state, then you obviously do not know how to secure your pc.
