How Do You Go About Getting A Press Pass?

Countless photographers who don't necessarily work for any publication have their hands on press passes, how can someone starting out as a photographer get one? What are some tips on how i can get into the newspaper business?

  1. well, that depends on the type of events you would want a press pass for. If you're interested in police and fire type stuff, all you need is something identifying you as a legitimate photographer and they will most always allow you right into a scene, or at least to the press area. You can easily make your own id badge identifying you strictly as a photographer, without being misleading.

    For organized events, it usually takes something more official, like a legitimate news sponsor.

    To work for a newspaper, just e-mail editors asking if they need any stringers, and when you get exclusive photos, e-mail them to the approporiate reporter or editor to show them your skills.
