  1. Pull the distributor. Use a drill motor on the oil pump shaft (under the distributor). Pull the valve covers and run the oil pump until you have oil flowing at ALL the valve rockers.

  2. before you install the pump, put petroleum jelly in it, that so it wont be sucking air.

  3. I assume you are talking about oiling your motor before you start it-new engine? You prime a new oil pump by filling it with oil before you install it.You can buy a tool to do this or you can take an old distributor, take the ignition stuff out of it,grind the teeth off the gear that engages the cam,and drop it in,spin it with a drill for a minute and you will prelube your engine. When you pull it out you will be able to see that there is oil all over the inside of the engine.

  4. pull dist. out there is a hex? shaft that goes into your oil pump, using a 1/4 inch socket that fits the shaft, put it on shaft and start rotating it clockwise you will feel the resistence, do that for ? a min. or so, it should be primed, or you could pull perfectly good valve cover{just one} off to see the oil come up. make sure when you pull the dist. out you mark where the rotor is pointing so you can put it back in the same position. it will install about 1-2 teeth conterclock wise from where you want it to end up kinda drops in clockwise to a setted position. if it hangs up bump the starter, dont turn over the engine just bump it. its not that hard.
