  1. First answer is pretty much correct. Your best bet might be to take some lessons from your local surf school. They may be able to help you with your problems.

  2. Sounds like you're dropping in too straight.  Drop in at an angle down the face the wave.  You should not be aiming for a spot directly in front of you at the base of the wave but a spot farther down the wave, make  your bottom turn and come back up to where you want to ride.

You could probably still drop in real straight if you want on near vertical lips but need to set your inside rail hard to project down the wave and keep from getting pounded.

  3. On a surfboard, you set the rail quickly of a steep wave face and let the board's rail and rocker do the work for you.  I don't bodyboard but I have shaped very short boards in the past.  Your board doesn't have much of a low rail line or rocker.  That means you need more speed, plus you can't have your fin pop out before you start to trim.  Try taking off with more angle and initial speed.  As you start to fall, try to dig your rail into the face a little.  This might work to help you trim.

  4. have some speed before the wave hits you, be a couple yards out past where it will break and as the swell pick you up, increase the intensity of your strokes to generate speed. Keep your frong weight, chin and shoulders down.

It hurts because you're landing flat. Lean forward more as if to dive head first and you're more likely to ride down the face of the wave. If the wave pitches you, you can stay leaning forward and somersault roll out of the wave after it breaks.
