Question:

How Do You Unplug Something Out Of An Outlet (Without "It" Losing Power)?

For all the Seinfeld fans, you may recall the episode entitled "The Frogger", where George purchases the Frogger machine. (To Save His High Score).

However, as he was planning his move of the machine; a challenging question arises. How do you move the machine, without losing power (in order to save the HS).

I know you have to unplug it from the outlet. But how do you keep the flow of power CONSTANT (without the interuption of unplugging). Get me?

Thank You!!

  1. turn it off and than u unplug it

  2. The only way to keep power in something without wall power is to use either batteries or capacitors...

A battery is a device that stores chemical energy and when loaded, discharges this energy in to electricity...Cell phones, for instance can be used without being plugged in due to their batteries...

A capacitor is a device that stores electrical energy between to polarized "plates"...Capacitors are commonly used in electronic devices to maintain power supply while batteries are being changed...

Either of these two methods will supply an electrical circuit, but only for a limited time...Let's go back to the cell phone example...Cell phones wil use a battery to hold electricity for a short while (maybe 8 hours or so), but will also use capacitors as memory backup...Since keeping the memory in a phone requires very small amount of power, capacitors are used...Phone memories can be saved for a long time (years)...

If you're looking on a larger scale, like your video game example, there are companies that make "UPS" (uninterruptable power supplies) systems...These systems are used in industrial settings to keep power to delicate computer systems and other circuits in case of power outage...Some are designed to last for a few hours, and some only for minutes (these are only designed to maintain power long enough to save data and shut down PCs, servers and other equipment properly)...

These UPS systems are readily available for consumer needs as well as industrial needs...

    Cool question...
