I know you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. But my best friend is completely falling off the wagon again. Over the last few yrs life has been turned up side down on her. She had the gastric bypass, became addicted to pain meds, and then all of a sudden put on mental meds, and was over dosing her self on those and what ever she could get her hands on. She was put into a 10day rehab then finally when it became extrememly obovious she was put in a 30 day rehab. she lost her son, temporarly at that time. For the last yr she has done very well, she was returning to the person i met 26 yrs ago. (she is 28 now) her hubby thinks she has no prob, that god will heal her. I see her falling again and i need to get her help quickly, where do i go? I have offered her a place to stay but if she is off the wagon she could steal me blind again. It was hard to put my trust in her again, but she is my bff, and i worry about her health and her son. As far as insurance hubby makes to much for sliding scale and they used there 1 time inhouse treatment threw their insurance. HELP WHAT CAN I DO?

  1. I think you should have a heart to heart with her as a concerned friend. You should also speak with her husband about an inpatient program. Then about help groups. I think this should work also remind her about her son.

  2. One of my friends asked me this sort of questions before, she found helpful here.http://health-insurance.tips4free.info/h...

  3. Does she have family members who would agree with you?  They could either convince her to get help - or get power of attorney (or similar) and essentially make her get help.  If that happens, everyone can explain why they did something so drastic when she gets better.

Sounds like she has an eating disorder as well.  Try calling local counselors and ask about crisis help for people like your friend.  They may be able to arrange some sort of rehab you could drive your friend to...

  4. You could ask her to google Desiderata and read it. It is a short piece and has all the answers for both now and forever in it.
