How do people afford to go to boarding schools? Fees are sometimes up to 50,000 per year. It's incredible.

My family is dirt poor and my grades are straight B's. I can't afford to go to one nor do I have the grades to get a nice scholarship. I'm already in grade 11 this year.

In different ways. Some, by luck, were born into wealthy families. Others, are lucky enough to get full financial aid. So as you can tell, there's a lot of luck involved. So if luck has not been on your side (you've mentioned your family is "dirt poor" and you have "straight B's"), make your own luck. You sound very ambitious towards your goal of boarding school, many admission teams find this admirable and will admit you based on your determination.

You've mentioned that you're going into 11th grade. So the next school year will be your last chance for boarding school. Well, It's a lil to0 late for you to go, but it can still be an option. Your grades can still be okay, but if you do extra curricular activities, you might get in.Some schools in The USA give incentives for poor kids, but have a asset to bring to the school. If your canadian, then maybe they need more international students. You can be a student of color, and they will accept you because they need diversity. It depends. But look into schools in USA, they are more better than other countries.

In truth, most people can't go. At most, the vast majority of kids come from families than can payy the full bill. The other students are kids ho get scholarships becaue they have great academic or other abilities.
