How Does Sombody Become A Freelancer?

I looked up Frerelancer a couple days ago and it was defined as "freelance is a person who pursues a profession without a long-term commitment to any one employer." So how would someone become a freelancer and what is an example of one?

I am becoming a freelance photographer ..so basically you get your own business license and work for yourself without having to work directly under anyone else. Then you provide your services to the people or sometimes to even other companies ..like a lot of web designers freelance but do contract work for other companies but they are still working for themselves.

Im a free lancer. I make websites for people, I do data entry for people, I write content and articles for people. I advertise my services on craigslist, getafreelancer, and places like that. People contact me when they need a service performed. I do not work for them, I am independent. I just do the service they need (type something out, build a website etc.), get paid, and thats it, jobs over and I move on to the next customer/client. That is what a freelancer is.
