Hi there,

Ok, I have a fun project I get to do for my computer programming class which is about radio stations, and finding a solution to DJ's who do not put cd's back into cases. Yes I know this is the day and age where they don't work this way anymore and they use Mp3's- so my project is going to switch all the cd's to mp3's... but I guess I'm looking for a reference site with the nitty gritty of how they actually operate.

Any suggestions? I have tried looking up radio stations/ fm...how to operate...etc. but I'm not finding what is is I'm looking for.

Thank you so much!

  1. Most don't use cds at all, but download it from the sources via mp3 downloads so no cds anyway...

Ok ok.. most small town stations still having the cd collections or have listener donated material use regular programs that convert cds to mp3 format such as winamp's paid program that allows for ripping of cds.

Once it is uploaded to a hard drive it can be accessed at any time. however most songs are scheduled ahead of time to make sure you have no dead air

music is scheduled thru programs such as raduga and Google's own suite of software among others out there

    http://www.wolosoft.com/en/raduga/

    http://www.google.com/radioautomation/

    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&sa=X&...

Basically this takes the place of the DJ completely who is now more of a baby sitter in some stations and a active participant who uses the programs to make radio fun in others

No real websites other than possibly asking questions on sites such as radio-info.com and radioinsight.com as I learned most of it talking to and watching from day to day users of these programs

also found this ..Glanced over it but haven't read it fully to see if it will help you

    http://ross.sourceforge.net/

  2. I think the best thing for you to do is to go to a radio station and  have them show you the way they do things.   Most stations will be more than happy to  answer  your questions. they like to show off... hi  hi
