How Far is Considered SAFE?

I live near a pumping station that is considered high voltage and has 27 000 volts running through it. I live almost exacly 100 meters away from it and am worried about about high levels of EMF.

Am I close enough that my health may be affected? I suppose I can always call up the company but am trying yahoo answers first!

I find that if I stand in the on room that is facing it my cordless gets static but anywhere else in the house it is fine, I dont know if its caused by this or something else though, my phone is 900mhz

anyways any input would be awesome!

  1. Not a problem.  You are close enough to pick up static, but that occurs at a far lower level than might be hazardous.

  2. There has been some speculation that exposure to EM field lines can have adverse health effects but there is no data in support of that contention.

Simple fact, the cell phone you put to your ear has a greater Em impact even though the amount of current is orders of magnitude smaller because Em effects fall off as 1/r^2.

So, no need to worry - unless the line breaks and sparks are shooting out of the end.
