I wonder how fast does a cruise liner go? Like if it travels 850 miles in the sea from point A to Point B in full speed how long will it take?

  1. I was on a Carnival Cruise (to Puerto Vallerta/Mazatlaan and Cabo San Lucas) and our ship topped out MAX the ENTIRE way was about 25 knots. I think it steadily hovered at about 23-24 knots most of the way.

  2. It depends some go as fast as 28 knots, or nautical miles, I am not sure of the exact difference between Nautical and regualr mile. Look up the ship to check the amount.

  3. royal caribbean top speed is 27 knots - the quivalent of about 30 mph

  4. to add to the two above.........20-25 MPH is max pedal to the metal red lined full ahead.....if the ship had to go 850 miles, it wowuld do it at about 3/4 of max......saves wear and tear and all that...

now, much of a cruise ships' run is is trips of 100-200 miles betwen islands.........like leave St Thomas at 6 pm, arrive San Juan PR 6 am.....but that's only 95 miles, so the ships stooge around at a low economical speed of maybe only 8 mph......
