The end of Game Week 17 in the French top Flight saw Paris Saint-Germain pile more pressure on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130, who were shockingly held to a 1-1 draw at home. Whereas the likes of Marseille and Lille won their games to make the league standings
even more interesting
Paris Saint-Germain continued their return from a temporary slip up with another 4-0 win in the Ligue 1, this time over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valenciennes-FC-c40865. After cruising past Evian TG in their previous game, the oil-money-fuelled club from Paris once again showed just why
they are a force to reckon with a performance that was more than spectacular.
Summer signing, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ezequiel-Lavezzi-c13073 scored the fourth goal for the Parisiens to make
it a night to remember for the title hopefuls.
Coach, Carlo Ancelotti is pleased with the way his players have turned things around and is of the view that if PSG continue playing with such determination and confidence, they can achieve their objectives this season.
Winning away from home has pleased the Italian tactician to large extent and the 53-year-old feels that the players are playing with more enthusiasm and desire to get positive results, which is a great sign for the club. And Ancelotti has urged his players
to continue on the same line if Les Parisiens wants to win their first Ligue 1 crown in eighteen years.
"This was a confirmation of where we are. After two home matches, it was a good test for us to show our mentality away from home on a difficult pitch.”
“The players have started to play together with altruism, there's more character and the players are using their quality for the good of the team.”
And Valenciennes coach has no excuses regarding his side’s performance against the Ile giants. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Sanchez-c10062 feels that his side tried to play an attacking game but it turned out to be a big mistake for which they were punished by the visitors.
In the other important game of the week, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 defeated SC Bastia 2-1. But coach, Elie Baup is not pleased with his side’s performance. The 57-year-old tactician criticised the way his players performed on the pitch and said that Marseille
need to find more consistency in order to avoid any more hiccups.
While talking to reporters, the Frenchman said that Les Phoceens can rival the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique Lyonnais for the Championelle but to achieve that feat, they need to be more consistent and play with more energy.
“We can't continue the season on this rollercoaster. We have to find more energy, and be more consistent.”
Talking about Paris Saint-Germain, Elie Baup said that PSG are favourites for the title despite their problems and other teams need to work very hard in order to stop the Paris giants.
“I've watched PSG, and they have been incredible going forward in recent matches. We're playing well, but we have to turn that into more goals."
How Game Week 17 will affect the title race is yet to be seen but it will influence the league standing to large extent nonetheless. With Paris Saint-Germain, Marseille and Lyon at the podium, Ligue 1 has already become a three-horse race.
