  1. 1420 on the new SAT? As in out of 2400? A 1420 is really bad. You prob. should shoot for community college.

  2. The new SAT is scored out of 2400 points, so 1420 on the new SAT would be comparable to a 710 on the old test, which is not very good.  In fact, it's right above just taking the test and getting nothing right.  However, if you are only talking about the Verbal and Math sections with a 1420, then that's pretty good.

    As for the colleges,

University of Illinois at Chicago reports no data on SAT (I think they like the ACT better).

University of Michigan: Verbal--> 43% of freshmen got between 700 to 800, 43% got between 600 to 699, and the rest were below that.  Math--> 21% of freshmen got between 700 to 800, 49% got between 600 to 699, and the rest were below that.

Florida Atlantic University: Verbal-->2% of freshmen got between 700 to 800, 15% got between 600 to 699, 50% got between 500 to 599, and the rest were below that.  Math-->2% between 700 to 800, 13% between 600 to 699, 48% between 500 to 599, and everybody else got lower scores.

Community colleges let anybody in.  I think it's a rule.

  3. WOW.Good for you and way to go. There will be no problem getting in to a good university with THAT score.

  4. 1420 out of 2400 isn't excellent, but still it's pretty good.  Also you can take it as much as you want- they always keep your highest score for each section.

  5. it does not look good. that's eqivalent to a 18-20 on an act test.

  6. Oh that's very good! You will get in!

Some community colleges don't even look at SAT scores.

  7. its low,sorry

  8. Out of 2400? You need to retake it, that will  really only get you into community college. The national avg. is 1500.  I know some people that just lucky and get into a really good college but they atleast had a  1700/2400. But seriously, you need to retake it, that's not good at all.

Sorry, but take a prep class-for a community college it's fine, but you want to make it higher bc you'll eventually transfer out to a 4 yr. university right? Get some help for your score.
