How HARD will it be to earn a scholarship from UF as a walk-on football player?

I will try out for the UF football team this fall and I'm gonna show them my highlights. I'm not a 4 or 5 star athlete, but I can surely give myself 3 stars and I'm in a financial slump too. How likely would it be for ME to earn a scholarship before next year?

  1. I don't know for sure, but they typically want all-stars. I'd say think of yourself as a 5-star player, then act like one. Be confident. Go for it. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do anything in life.

  2. not likely at all because florida is a top school in the country so they can get just about any player they want plus they could prolly get a 4 or 5 star recruit who plays your position

  3. hard hard hard hard hard :D

  4. I wouldn't say impossible, however, you would have to be one of the best athletes they have ever seen for that to happen.

I hate to rain on your parade but if you rate yourself a three I would probably start looking for a job to work through college and not bank on the scholarship. Stay on the books!

  5. If you're gonna give yourself 3 stars you might as well give yourself 5 stars.

The chances of you earning a scholarship are extremely remote but it does happen on occasion.  You should better have a Plan B because chances are you will need it.  Good luck.

  6. near inpossible, not every person with a full scholarship is garenteed a spot on the team, but if you work your *** off and show them you can contribute, they may be willing to work somthing out

  7. If by UF you mean Univ. of Florida, then you would have to be very, very good to get a scholarship after walking on.  Not that it has never happened, but it is truly difficult.  You would have to be willing to endure a lot of heartache before anything good happens.  Good luck.

  8. You will have to play at least one full season on the real team before you can get a scholarship offer.  So, if you get sent to the practice squad, you won't be able to get a scholarship for two years.

Your highlights in high school aren't going to count for much, you just have to go out there and grind.  Try to participate in every drill to the best of your ability and train as hard as possible before you arrive on campus.  Take a couple days off right before so you have some sort of gas tank.

  9. Uhhh super hard.  I think you need to change your plan and get a job.

Unless of course you're 6'4" and 280 pounds and can run like the wind or throw a football through a tire from 50 yards away.

But you said yourself your're a 3 star athlete.  Maybe trying to do that at a school that has a really crappy football team is a better idea.

  10. If by UF you mean University of Florida then the answer is d**n near impossible.  They have a limited number of scholarships and they cut high school All-Staters.  I don't want to kill your dream but you need to be realistic.

  11. very hard
