Question:

How Hard is it to be a Theatre Actor?

I'm an upcoming senior and a career I'm really looking into is Theatre Acting. I think I may have talent and I have experience in drama and comedy, but I can't sing so musicals (though I love them) are out of the question. I have had numerous roles but in high school productions, I either land lead or supporting.

But if I don't have enough talent is there a way to build skills? And how hard is to survive as an actor for the stage or possibly even film?

  1. Go to university for theatre. The training you'll get is astounding. One of the guys in the 08 class got casted in Spring Awakening before he even graduated.

The university I attend (Elon) offers degrees in Acting, Music Theatre and a Theatre Studies degree that doesn't require an audition. There are very good universities with Acting programs all over the country that you'd be well adviser to check out.

If you have questions or anything feel free to send me a message.

  2. its not that hard just start by trying out for commercials and start acting in clubs and get really good!!
