Question:

How I prevent cuts and bruises from my new hockey skates?

I just started ice skating on the weekend and I bought my own pair of hockey skates.

Ive skated with them twice now, roughly an hour, to an hour and half, with breaks, each time.

The skates however cut into my skin and have left gashes on my calves. Its the upper part of the skates that literally digs into my skin.

So the second time I went I put band-aids on those cuts and I wore longer socks but the skates ended up hurting me again.

What is the best way for me to prevent cuts from the skates?

Thanks.

  1. Ouch, the same thing happened to me 3 days ago. First, you will have to break in these skates. Wear thick socks for the first time. But the ice skaters wear like long nylon ones... Make sure you lace them up right. I don't know how -_- Hope I help...

  2. Wear thicker socks or layers of socks to help break the skates in
