  1. Foot work lets you get away from punches,a moving target is a lot tougher, to hit, The idea to move and hit without being hit.Dont become a boxer stay in school

  2. Footwork is very important in many sports, from football, soccer, tennis to matial arts you name it.  Especially for those fighters who are in disadvantage in action fights, footwork can help them to make up their weakness.

Footwork maynot be as important to you if you have a super big chin, but for the rest of fighters, footwork can help them dodge punches in an effective way thus means to wear opponent down in a passive way and help them  punch with more power along with the movement of their feet.

Fighters have to practise footwork daily to make it as their 2nd nature.

  3. very important.. Just watch old films of Muhamad Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard. It was Leonards footwork that won him the fight with Marvin Hagler.  Ali used his to beat Sonny Liston and countless others. When Oscar DeLaHoya has his footwork on track he is more effective but when he was standing still that is when he was more vulnerable.

  4. its important but really when it comes down toe to toe its all about balance to me stance is more important i was watchign the contender and this one aussie dude had a messed up stance that threw people off guard to me footwork is important but not the most important thing you can dodge some punches but u cant dodge them all

  5. Footwork is important but to me personally it's never been crucial. You do need great balance in the ring and know how to pivot the feet when throwing a hard punch and also know how to step back and throw a punch. If you don't practice this, you'll step on your own feet and fall on your ***. Jumping rope is the basic to learning good footwork. Then when you're ready, you'll learn how to step and move around the ring.
