For example mohammad yousuf has played 250 innings and scored 9144 runs so his average will be (runs/no of innings) which is 36.576. In cricinfo it is written 43.54 and in wikipedia it is written 43.62

(THE INFORMATION IS OF ODIS) and the same case is with other players.

Tell me how they count the average?

  1. The total number of runs is divided by the number of times the batsman was out, NOT just the number of innings. Its the same in ODIs, Tests, and any other cricket.

So, every time a batsman is not out, his average will increase.

  2. you are wrong mohammad yousuf has been not out many times therefore his average should be 43.54.the n.o. innings are not counted.

  3. total number of runs divided by total number of times out, not innings. The reason wikipedia and cricinfo are different is because they are updated at different times. Mohammed Yousuf has been dismissed 210 times therefore, 9144(runs)/210(dismissals) = 43.54. Cricinfo is the most accurate as it is updated after every game, while wikipedia is when people get round to it.
