We were away, still are actually. Our property got hit really hard. My BBQ & outdoor setting ended up inside my house, through a glass sliding window =(

A couple of fences and trees blown over, but compared to a few neighbours we got off lightly! My neighbour lost his roof!

I haven't seen the damage yet. Dreading going back. Thankfully none of the animals were injured!! So grateful to my farm hand for looking after everything!

How about you guys??

  2. lol, i laughed so hard when i heard about that woman who died coz a brick wall fell on her. i know its bad and shalow but it is so funny!!!!!

our house is fine, but i swear that that crack on by bedroom wall got bigger!

i was home alone that day and i was so scared and so were my dogs. i thought the walls might just tilt over and squash me.

  3. Oh you poor girl! Sorry to hear that. And yes... good to hear that the animals are ok.

Over in the Southern Highlands NSW we got really strong wind too but seems all quiet on the SES front. Didn't hear too much damage reports locally. But that night... I thought my roof was going to lift straight up.

    Cheers

  4. We were lucky because where we live, we are protected from the Northerly wind. We only lost a couple of trees out in the paddocks but not near the house or across our driveway. Didn't lose power either. My Mum only had her power restored last night and there are still heaps of people who are still without power.

  5. l was watching a DVD so l had'nt seen or heard the news, the wind was so loud we could'nt hear each other when we spoke. lt was'nt until we finaly went outside and it was crazy, tree's split in half lying in the middle of roads, some had crashed onto people's houses, and some suburbs were still without power on friday. Believe it or not l was driving around today and its still a mess out there, CES still working and helping those in need.......

  6. im in victoria  my house wasnt wrecked...we had powerout but the funniest thing was that our alarm went off....it wasnt funny at the time though...you could hear it from the end of the street!!! its all good tho now

  7. Oooh that doesn't sound very good, sorry to hear that. Hope all is ok when you go home.

We are a 2 1/2 hour drive from Melbourne. We had a HUGE dust storm and massive winds, but all we lost were a few tree branches!! We were lucky, my dad's farm lost some haysheds. So we got off very lightly, thankfully!! The power didn't even go out, flickered on and off a few times but thats it.

  8. My house was fine, I was at school for choir during the time, and the lights were flickering on and off during the 6 hours I was there. When my sister and I were walking home, we walked past a street, and this huge tree fell and you could see all the powerlines that had gone down with it.

My mum is a really fragile women, really small lady. She had to run to the bus stop and hold onto the pole because she was so freaked that she was going to get blown away. It was funny when mum said it, but she really could of because it was that strong

  9. Crazy here in SA too - thankfully my home had no problems at all! i was a bit worried that a tree would fall on my car at work!!

Hope your damage isnt too bad :(

  10. Made the mistake of going out to a cafe for lunch with a work friend and nearly got blown off my feet.  A large elm leaf came flying at me 120km/hr and smacked me in the face - it bloody hurt, but so funny!

I feel really sorry for all the train commuters who were stuck for hours in the city (I was lucky enough to have a train that ran on time).

A guy at work got struck by a flying tree branch and my sisters friend got blown into an on coming car and was hit - she was rushed to hospital but is ok now.

I've never had so much dust inside the house..grrrr

There are people in the east of Melb who stil do not have power.

Goodluck with the clean up of your house, so sorry to hear that your property was affected :((
