How on earth is this possible? How can a man become a MD at such a young age after only 4 years of service in an organisation?

There are people in the 50s who still haven't became MD despite working for an organisation for over 20 years. He became MD after only 4 years?

How is this possible?

Many people work twards it, but don't reach out and get it. You have to know your stuff. You have to learn what it takes to aggressively go get it. Little things like appearance, attention to detail, researching the background of the people you deal with, memorizing names and histories of people and their family and friends. You have to be the best at what you do.
