At Oakland
After starting the season with a three-game losing streak, the Chiefs did well to win two straight.
Their performance was not hampered by the bye week as well and when they travelled to Oakland, the Raiders faced a sturdy Chiefs’ defence, which was impossible to penetrate.
Although quarterback, Matt Cassel, struggled badly during the game, the rest of the players ensured the winning streak did not end.
Chiefs managed two interception returns for a touchdown each, while Le'Ron McClain and Javier Arenas had a touchdown apiece.
Chiefs got 14 points in the first quarter and seven each in the third and fourth as the defence restricted Raiders from getting any point.
The final score settled at 28-0.
Cassel was not up to the mark and ended up throwing two interceptions.
Against San Diego Chargers
Chiefs fell just three points short when they visited San Diego early on in the season and they wanted revenge when the Chargers visited them.
A close encounter was witnessed once again, but the result was different this time.
Chiefs got 10 points in the first quarter to take a handsome lead.
Both the teams managed a field goal in the second quarter as Chiefs entered the halftime with the lead.
Chargers, however, hit back hard in the third quarter and scored three field goals while restricting Chiefs from making any scoring move.
Chiefs were one point ahead of Chargers when the final quarter started. They extended their lead with the help of a touchdown, but Chargers did not delay their response.
They managed a touchdown, which was followed by two-point conversion, tying the score, 20-20.
In the overtime, Ryan Succop got a 30-yard field goal to give Chiefs their fourth straight victory.
Coach, Todd Haley, attributed the victory to the team effort. He said:
"It's everybody. And I hate to mention one without mentioning them all, because everybody fought their tail ends off to make that result what it was."
Against Miami Dolphins
Four victories in seven games had brought Chiefs to a tie for the leading position in the AFC West division, but what followed completely crushed their hopes.
Chiefs returned to their pathetic performance from the offence and defence once again.
They scored a field goal early in the first period to get a three-point advantage, but the Dolphins were all over them after that.
Dolphins scored a touchdown late in the quarter, got another in the second and two more in the third.
They got a field goal in the final quarter to hit the final nail in the coffin and ended the game at 31-3.
Against Denver Broncos
Hoping to forget the last defeat and continue the race to reach the playoffs, the Chiefs hosted Denver Broncos.
The defence was much better, but not enough to earn a victory.
Broncos scored a touchdown in the first quarter and a field goal in the second to get 10 points ahead of Chiefs.
Matt Cassel managed to initiate a scoring drive when he found Le'Ron McClain from one-yard in the third quarter, reducing the deficit to only three points.
Broncos once again increased the lead by scoring a touchdown in the final. Chiefs managed a field goal, but that was not enough and the final score settled at 17-10.
