How Kevin Durant can win the MVP award next season? NBA Feature
Kevin Durant has established himself as one of the best scorers in the NBA during the past few seasons and winning the scoring title for three years running is mere proof of his brilliance.
However one thing that he has not been able to achieve individually is the MVP honour – a trophy he would like to add to his already illustrious career. During last season’s campaign, Durant came second in the race with LeBron
James and was also unable to get past his Miami Heat to win an NBA Championship.
Being crowned the MVP in the NBA does not guarantee one success in the NBA. However winning the award does bring a lot of pride along with the best individual award NBA has to offer. One thing which is certain is that if anyone
is able to pull off MVP calibre performances, it does automatically mean that they can be true leader for their team and be in strong contention for an NBA championship.
In his time in the league, Durant has come forward to be known as a prolific scorer but has been on the end of criticism for being too quite as a leader for Oklahoma City Thunder which is considered to be the main reason behind
his inability to bag the MVP honours.
So coming into next season, Durant will not only have to establish himself as a leader for OKC on court but be a vocal presence at all times. These are the small things which need to change for Durant to be able to be the best
player in the NBA.
Another major thing which will need to be changed coming into next season will be Durant’s ability to play defence. This does not been that he is a bad-defender but to be regarded as an even better player, he will have to become
a stronger force defensively.
As talented as Durant is on the offensive end, Durant will have to bring the same level of intensity on the defensive end for him to finally climb over the hurdles that stand in his way to be considered as the best player in the
NBA.
During last season’s campaign Durant came forward as the strongest scorer in the league leaving behind the likes of James and Kobe Bryant. However team success has eluded him thus far in his career.
In four years with the OKC – a team constantly on the rise. Getting to the NBA Finals may be an achievement in its own. However the all elusive NBA Championship still eludes Durant and fellow Thunder teammates.
If Durant is able to assert himself as a stronger presence on court, he will not only be able to get past James on an individual level but also be able to lead OKC to a championship. But a lot of things will have to change before
he can achieve that feat.
The last thing that will need to change for Durant to take home MVP honours next season is that he should be able to answer OKC’s call on a more consistent basis. As strong as a finisher he may be in the closing stages, he will
need to take over the game from the get go if he wants to establish himself as the best player for his generation.
