How Long After The Use By Date Have You Cooked and Eaten Chicken?

I know all the guidelines but is there anyone out there that has cooked and eaten chicken that has been refrigerated four days after the use by date and is still alive to answer my question?

 A girl in my dorm just cooked some chicken that was 6 days past the expiry. When raw it smelt very strongly disgusting (almost seafood-ish) but she said after it was cooked it was ok but tasted a bit "funny". I personally wouldn't even be comfortable cooking chicken that was 1 day past the expiry. Chicken is something to be especially careful with!

I personally would consider 1 day past the expiry and even then feel a bit uncomfortable about it. Chicken is something to be especially careful with!
