About a year and half ago my friend decided to cut off her house arrest bracelet and disappear. ( I know dumb) But now she is trying to get herself together and start fresh. But to do that she will need to turn herself in. How long could she get? Can she still be punished?

  1. Well, to start with she will have to finish serving the sentence she was on the bracelet for ... in prison or jail, she will not get another bracelet.

Then she will have to answer the charges related to her sudden departure from custody.  More time, she won't qualify for a bracelet.

Then charges of intentional damage to government property (the bracelet).  She might get away with a fine and restitution for that one

She should come back and face the music as soon as possible, otherwise her eventual capture and punishment will continue to hang over her head!

  2. honestly..if she couldnt even withheld her punishment by wearing the bracelet for a period of time..

    she outta go to jail!

  3. Tell her to go to the police station and give herself up the sentence will be less harsh and it depends what she was in house arrest for

  4. I always advise my clients in the UK that surrendering themselves to the police can only increase their chances of reducing the sentence. If they are arrested without the surrendering, they will not get that credit.

As I do not know which country you are in, I am afraid that I cannot comment on the other parts of your question.

    Hope that helps, good luck.

  5. She can absolutely still be punished, she's probably listed as a current fugative for violating the terms of her house arrest.

How long she can get depends on what her original crime and it's sentence was.
