  1. Horses live to be about 29-30 yrs old if well taken care of...

A good mature horse around 8-10 yrs old are great trail riding horses.

  2. Horses can live around 30 years.  A good age to buy one is 10 to 15 years old, but it just depends on how they are trained

  3. Most horses can live to be 30+ years old, If they are properly cared for.

I have a 22 year old mare that my younger horses have trouble keeping up with!

A good trail horse would be about 7-10 years old.  That would be young enough to give you several years of pleasure riding. If you are just starting out, I would say a gelding would be better.

  4. Around 10 years old is a good age to buy one, a gelding would probably be more mellow headed then say a stallion or a mare, look for adds that say 'bomb proof' or 'great kids horse' to find a mellow trail riding horse :)....horses can usually live a good 25-30++ years as long as they are well cared for.

    Good Luck!

  5. In general, a smaller breed of horse will outlive a larger one.  But a riding or pleasure horse has around 30 years to live comfortably.

Depending on how experienced you are, and if this is your first horse, the age you should buy on at varies.  If you're less experienced around 10 is a good age, and experienced somewhere like 7 would be a good buy.

  6. A horse can live up to 30-40, but most live up to their mid twenties. A good age to buy a horse is 8 years old, to 15 years old. This way, if you buy it closer to 8 years old, its old enough to be exposed and fully trained, but if you buy it closer to 15 its very experienced, but still young enough to have several years of use.

  7. i have had 4 horses in my life and all but 2 have passed...

30 is considered very old!! but i have a 30 year old and he is "as healthy as a horse.."..(I amuse myself..) lol

my personal opinion for a great age is anywhere between 7 and 14!!!

  8. well id say 8-10 for buying one

  9. The oldest horse in history was Old Billy, he died at age 62. But he's an exception. Usually, an ordinary horse is finished around the age of 30. Some races, like icelandic horses, are very vital up to age 35-40 and occasional horses of any race can reach 40-50 years of age even if it's very rare.

  10. ......................long :P
