How Long Do Impaired Driving Convictions Stay On Your Record In Ontario ?

A friend of mine was convicted of Impaired Driving in 1998 and is very concerned that the conviction may still be on her record, she was told that it is removed after five years, does anyone know if this is true, keeping in mind that it happend in Ontario

  1. In ontario... I want to say 7 years.


  2. It is NOT automatically removed unless part of her sentence contained the word "discharge". Conditional Discharges are rarely given to impaired driving matters.

    What she is thinking of is a pardon. You have to apply for one and they are not guaranteed. For summary offences, you need to wait 5 years to apply for the pardon, for indictable offences you need to wait 7 years.
