How Long Does your Puppy consume one bag of Pet food?

We are going to have a dachshund puppy, how long does one 7lbs bag last?

well..

puppies eat more than adults.. and you should feed him/her at least 3 smallish (like a cup or so) meals a day

I have 4 year old dobermans and a 40lbs bag lasts me 20 days.. lol

but I had a mixed dachshund and he ate more than my dobermans when he was a puppy... but he was always running around and burning off energy.. you don't want to let your doxie get fat, though because they are prone to arthritis and back end problems and being overweight will only make that worse

I would say a 7lbs bag would last a week or so, but it kind of depends on what kind of food you are feeding.. if you are feeding something crappy and cheap like purina or pedigree then your dog will have to eat more of it than if say.. he was eating blue buffalo or taste of the wild

the better quality food you get, the less they eat of it because there are no fillers.. they also p**p less, so that's a plus

i don't have a puppy but i have 2 dogs

a newfoundland and a pitbull

we buy some kind of pedigree because its easy to find where all our houses are!

we buy a 52+ lbs bag every month ( only lasts us that long) because bailey the newfoundland eats a lot because he is like a bear.....lol

he eats approx. 5+ cups a day ( sneaks food from riley's bowl) and riley the pitbull she eats about 3 cups a day...

just look on the bag or talk to you rvet for advise

depends what brand it is. brands with fillers in the ingredients (like corn) go faster because you have to feed so much more of it to meet the minimal daily nutritional requirements.

Well, I have three dogs, all of them weighing different weights, and they all eat the same dog food, from the same dog bag.

A 40 pound bag of dog food, with Max eating four cups a day. Roxy eating one cup, and Sparky eating one cup, it will last one and a half months.

ADD> Avoid foods from wal-mart. Foods like Purina, Alpo, Pedigree, Science Diet, Beneful, Ol' Roy, etc, are all filled with fillers and toxins your dog doesn't need to ingest. Your dog will cost you MORE money if you keep them on food like that.

Generally, a dachshund puppy will require one and a half cups (if even that) a day.

It depends on the age of your puppy,but our dog ate 1/2 cup 3 times a day and after a while. Hopefully this helps.

P.S. If you buy purina puppy chow it shows you just in case I'm wrong it also shows how your dog should look (weight wise)

2-3 weeks :) they don't eat a lot when they are really young, but the more they grow, the more they will eat. do not give them too much food though, because a lot of them eat more than they can take, and throw it up. have fun with your new puppy. and good luck too :)

It depends on the variety of dog food you use, and the size of your dog.  For a dachshund, I would say at least a week, depending how generous you are with his food.  Be careful not to overfeed, as dachshunds tend to corpulence.  You might try asking your vet about higher protein foods, which work better for dachshunds/
