  1. My daughter was over 2. but every child is different. if he seems ready for the switch and try it. getting a toddler bed is best and they make such cute beds for toddlers to help make them feel secure in the transition

  2. my son is almost two and he has been out of his crib since he was 13 months old. it all depends on you and your child. no certin rules to keeping them in a crib or not.

  3. Some kids climb out at 10 months old and some climb out at 3 years old.  I would never take a used crib..they can be dangerous as you see.  By a new one.

  4. They should remain in a crib until they learn to climb out. There really is no set age. But once they learn to climb out, whether it's 11 months or 3 years, that is when they need to switch to a toddler bed. The risk of injury of a child who can climb out of a crib is greater than the risk in a toddler bed.

  5. My daughter was in her crib until she was 15 months old.  We put her in a toddler bed because we were expecting my son.  It worked out just fine.  She is now 23 months old and is still in her toddler bed.  When my son is older I will probably keep him in the crib longer, maybe until he is 18 months - 24 months old.  It depends upon if he is trying to climb out of the crib, or not.

  6. most are out by 18 mos because they are trying to climb out

I see no problem with just getting a tot bed or a railed twin bed

  7. My children have switched from a crib or playpen to a toddler or twin bed around their 2nd birthday, give or take a couple months.  But, I know some people switch their babies at more like 18 months.  Personally, I wouldn't invest the money in another crib unless you plan on using it with future children.  If you have a playpen, you can use that instead.

  8. My daughter is 12 months and just now attempting to walk, for me the switch will come when she learns to walk well. Her crib is one of those "lifetime" cribs...so it does crib..toddler..daybed..then full. So once she is a good walker and able to climb down then she will get her toddler bed. I suspect when she is about 15 months.

  9. My son was around 15-16 months old when we switched to a toddler bed. He fell out of the crib at that age during a nap once, and it scared me and my husband so badly we decided to buy a toddler bed.

I think it's ultimately a parent's choice when to put your child in a toddler bed. You know your child better than anyone, esp. on here. I'm sure I'll get thumbs down, but as long as you have a side railing and a low-lying bed he should be fine.

If he's used to sleeping in your room, I suggest putting the toddler bed in there for a week or so, otherwise you'll have to deal with screaming until he gets used to falling asleep in his own room.
