Question:

How Long are the Tail Pipes and Extension Pipes Supposed to Last?

A guy at Meinike told me 2-4 years, that's the average lifespan of the pipers coming out of the converter and going into the muffler, and from the muffler to the tail.

Mine went bad (rust hole in one pipe) after 3 years.

Is that all the time you're siupposed to get out of these pipes? I note that Meinike lifetime guarantees the muffler, but not the expensive pipes.

  1. depends what kind you buy. stainless steel last longer then reg. steel.

  2. where do u live i never replace my pipes. the ones on my car are from like 10 yrs ago and still strong. must be something in the air do you live near the beach or dose it snow a lot there?

  3. Depends on your location and environment (salt areas rust quicker) Typically the manufacturers are on the hook for 5 years of warranty on "emissions" equipment. If they are factory pipes they should last at least 5-6 years. if they are aftermarket check the manufacturer. Normally I have aluminized (coated) pipes installed on my project cars and I have had them to last 10 years plus.
