How Long can a USB Cable extension be?

Question

From PC to devices such as Digital videocam/ webcam/ analog-digital sound recording interface/ USB speakers? How long could I extend these (not all at once(!) without loss or degradation of 'signal'? (Yes, sright, I'm clueless how this stuff actually works. I just plug in and hope. Anyone remember wordperfect 3.1? ) I have lots more unrelated Q's. Later, Mason

u can buy infinate extensions, so a long as u want really - they tally up tho!

I don't know if there is a limit, but i have a webcam rigged up to at least 100m of cable (made up of loads of them), its plugged in in my bedroom and i use it as a security camera at the end of the back garden, so i would say there probably isn't a limit.

you can have them as long as you want really found these on ebay for you  they should do the trick for you i hope and if you want longer just join them together

i think max is 5m after that you need a repeater.

5 meters with a booster on then you conect as many of them as you like.i use 2 to take my webcam into the garden.you start to loose signal after 5 meters.
