How Manny Pacquiao killed Money Mayweather without a single punch - Part 2
However, when looking at the recent endorsements deal that Pacquiao has inked with 'Nike' after he was featured in western mainstream media such as CBS and Time Magazine, it would not be unfair to conclude that Pacquiao has trumped Mayweather where packaging
is concerned. In terms of hip hop, the Pac Man has delivered a deafening blow to Money. In simpler terms, there is not a bigger name in the sport today than that of the unassailable Pac Man.
At the end of the day, it needs to be understood that style makes a fight. Passing judgements on two great fighters might seem a rather unfair drill to many however, it must be said that these days everyone has an opinion. Opinion these days as they say
are like anuses, most people have one and most of the time they stink. Some people tend to be stuck ups while others are simply oblivious, few are refreshing in their approach and thinking. Which is why there are different coaches for different sort of fighters.
Pacquiao, as far as my knowledge goes, has the best coach in the business. Unfortunately, his name ends with a Roach, not a Steward or a Mayweather.
Back in the days, I used to be a die hard fan of basketball. I’m not sure how many of the readers reading this are old enough, however when Michael Jordan started off his career he had his fair share of critics. There were some who said that his game was
too flashy, while others said he lacked the technique, there were those who said that he could not play defence, they criticized him for not passing the ball and there were also those who said that he could not shoot. With Jordan barely starting his career,
people had written him off.
They have said the same kind of stuff about Pacquiao. They were heavily critical of his defence, many said that he punched single handed, that he only fought forward, that he was weak on the counter, that he was too small, that he was too dumb and the drill
went on for a long time. However, those who have seen him play would realize that this man is more like an artist. Every artist will have his fair share of critics - there would be those who would not comprehend the gravity of the art. Someone like Van Gough
maybe, and the fact remains that there will always be people who will not get Pacquiao. He is different from the rest.
When I sit here writing about one of the two greatest contemporary fighters of our time, it isn’t necessarily about who is better than the other. It is more about the fact that in this modern age and day it is absolutely necessary and imperative to set your
own stride, to walk in your own fashion, to make the right thing, the cool thing. Most importantly in an industry where the bad guys have thrived, it is always refreshing to see a Mohammad Ali springing up occasionally. There was in fact a time when athletes
with Ali’s integrity were revered for standing up against the tide for what they believed was in fact the right thing.
Compared with the modern day negativity that is propagated by many, along with naive arrogance and vain pretence where athletes make headlines consistently for all the wrong reasons. For this particular reason, for a long time there has been a dire shortage
of true role models to cling on to by the mainstream media who have had to deal with quite a lot of eccentricities. Comparing that with what Pacquiao stands for, it would not be wrong to assume that this man has made a good start. That he is destined for greatness,
that he has managed to kill Mayweather without even throwing a single punch at him.
