I am just curious. How many McCain supporters, or GOP members in general (whether you support McCain, or not) were surprised by his choice for VP and how many had little or no clue of who this woman is?

  1. Her name has floated  around for some time, both parties have looked at the Females who have a political posibility.

  2. none of them, not even McCain.

  3. Who had ever heard of Obama?

Who cares about a part-time legislator from Illinois who has no military or foreign policy experience.  Since he's been in the Senate, he's spent his time running for president.

All he does is talk, talk, talk.

    blah blah blah.

    Palin DOES things.

    That's all we care about.

    Action is real CHANGE.

We HOPE that she gets elected.

  4. Never heard of her.  But then I had never heard of Obama before, either.

  5. mcCain's October surprise came a little early.....he he he

  6. I knew about her before i watched her with Glen Beck he did a interview with her , back in June of this year .

  7. I have been hearing about her since July. She has been on the radar as having a promising political future for some time.

  8. I have a friend who lives in Anchorage who told me about their kick-*** governor a while back, when I started complaining about the c**p we have here in our own Republican governor.  Made me jealous lol.  I think the first time I heard her name was about six months ago, maybe a little more than that.  I can't say I did any real research on her before now, though.

The first time I heard Barack Obama's name was when he entered the race, which is strange considering I am pretty well versed on Illinois politicians--they're just across the river, after all.

From another poster:  How many of us know of anyone running prior to this election? (Unless they previously ran for the Presidency or are from your own city/state)

I've known about McCain for well over a decade (and he is not from my home state).  Always loved his firey attitude.  He, and the late Tim Russert, are the ones who really got me interested in politics.  I fervently supported him during the 2000 primaries and was pissed off that Georgie Boy snagged the nomination.  (I have never been a Bush supporter.)  He and Joe Biden are both notorious if you're really into politics (and watching C-SPAN from time to time lol).

  9. 10 Consisting of:

Sarah Palin (1), Todd Palin (1), Palin Daughters (3), Track and Trig Palin (2), and the big Oil executive & big Natural Gas executive who paid McCain to select Palin. (2)

    And McCain's accountant (1)

I doubt that McCain himself even knew.

  10. i had no idea, but i like sarah palin, i'm totally behind her.

    Mccain/Palin 2008

  11. I knew about her, but discounted her as a VP because I figured McCain would dismiss her as having too little experience.  When I heard about her about a year ago, I became a fan.  She accomplished an amazing amount of change in the political landscape in Alaska in a very short time.  I was surprised that McCain made her his choice.

Actually, I wasn't going to participate in this election.  When I heard she was the VP nominee, I was like HE11 Yeah!

Her nomination made me a voter.

  12. I have heard of her. It's kind of hard to not heard about the governor of the fastest growing State in the USA. Well, I guess if you live in a bubble or a cave, then maybe you wouldnt have heard of her.

I mean come on, she's even mentioned on The Deadliest Catch and all those Alaska documentaries on Discovery and History Channel.

To be fair, though, Governors dont receive the same sort of attention that Senators receive.

  13. I didn't, I had no idea who she was, but it appears to me if she can't manage her own daughter, how is she going to manage a nation of 300 million people if McCain was elected and then died?

  14. I've known Sarah for about 12 years.  She was my neighbor, my mayor for two terms and my governor.  Yes I was surprised.

  15. How many of us know of anyone running prior to this election?  (Unless they previously ran for the Presidency or are from your own city/state)

If Obama was so widely known, why did Oprah have to introduce him to the world on her TV show?

Perhaps "The Morning Show With Mike and Juliet" should have introduced Palin a few months back.  Would that have go the ball rolling?

  16. I have been a supporter of McCain since March 2008.  I first learned of Gov Palin after the 2006 elections and was intrigued by her then, though it was a surprise she was selected.  I fully support her being chosen.

I first heard of Obama in 2004 when he was running for the US Senate and that was also when I first heard he was already looking towards running for President.

  17. I had and I was happy she was nominated. She wasn't the first person  I would have suspected he would pick, but I think his decision was fine enough.

  18. palin had heard of herself until then

  19. I have

    But so what???

Who had heard of Barack Obama before last year?  I'm guessing 1% of the population...Nice try.  And btw, its because I disagree with her environmental extremism

  20. The same amount of supporters who got a shock  with someone who's name is Barry Soetoro  aka Barak Obama...bd

  21. Even McCain had only met her once before.
