  1. Alaska, Connecticut, Florida, Idaho, Maryland, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, and West Virginia. That's 10/50.


  2. The answer to that kind of depends on what you're willing to allow as a "panhandle".  The list at Wikipedia includes Alaska, Connecticut, Florida, Idaho, Maryland, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, and two in West Virginia.

    I personally think you could also make an argument for states such as Louisiana, Virginia, Alabama, and Mississippi having them as well, but they generally aren't regarded as having one.

    Having lived in North Carolina for over two decades, I have no idea where the previous poster got the idea that NC has one.  Certainly no one here ever refers to the state as having one.
