I see that bulbs come in a variety of watts. How do I know how many watts I need for my 2' ball python? Or how many watts should the heating pad be?

  1. light bulb should be 60 thaTS WHAT I USE AND A HEAT PAD SO MY TANK IS AROUND ON THE  90S

  2. Depends on the size of your cage. You need one that will keep the temperature at least 80F. You can look on the back of most light bulb boxes and it will tell you what size cage it is for. I am breeding ball pythons, so I use a different type of cage. Mine is more like a rack system and I use heat tape and no light. They are more comfortable that away because they are naturally nocturnal.

  3. It should at least be 80-90 degrees. They have special heat bulbs at pet stores

  4. I just got a BP and he's a little over a year. Everything I read says to not use a light. They can get dehydrated. We have ours in a 20 gal long, screen top and a heat bad for a 20 gal tank. He curls up on that and he is good to go. Our heat stays around 80 at night and about 88 during the day.
