How Many Would Believe...?

If the BJJ people, like the Gracie family, would go and learn Pressure Point Striking and Manipulation from someone who really knows the science, and publicly told the world that it DOES work, How many would believe, because the GRACIES said it?

How would they feel? Pretty Stupid? Would they put up excuses???

Mind you, they would come here, just to spite, and say "it doesn't prove anything!".. or rather not to spite but because they got chumped!

Oh! "It doesn't work against a resisting opponent!", they say.

And all of the sudden, one of the Gracies does it successfully against a resisting opponent...

could you hide your face deep enough up your a s s???

  1. That whole question went right over my head but I hope you're not insulting Gracie Jiu Jitsu.

  2. Agreed, in fact couldn't agree more if I tried. I studied Japanese Bushindo Jiu Jitsu back in 91 before the UFC and that whole explosion and wasn't crazy about it, but liked it all the same. My instructor there actually had us using pressure point manipulation to help us set up our submissions. If you go back and watch one of the very first UFC's they have a video clip of Ken Shamrock actually using one of the exact moves I was shown doing Bushindo Jiu Jitsu. From the cross side you put your elbow point down in the hollow of the shoulder to weaken it and cause significant pain while you improve position and take the submission. I only mention this because Japan was where Ken got his start in submission work and it's also where the original art was developed, the Gracie's definitely made some significant changes to it and did a wonderful job in my opinion of improving it's usefulness. Especially for women and most definitely in terms of rape prevention.

I've studied martial arts nearly my whole life, my oldest brother got me started at 6 and at 38 I still train and still love it. There have always been those people who haven't seen something or felt something for themselves, so they doubt and down talk. An interesting note though, even MMA has a complete ban on any and all pressure point manipulation. My first experience with pressure points was after I already had black belts in 2 different styles and my instructor made me take 2 pressure point strikes before he would teach me anything about them. He said it was so I would think long and hard before ever doing any of them to someone for real. He was right, the first he hit me with was like hitting your funny bone X 20 and the second was a very short term paralysis and scared my half to death.

I've only ever shown just the very slightest of it in a real life situation and I prefer it that way.

  3. Ha ha! That's such a good question! I don' think I really have anything to add as you've stated my sentiments exactly. It's the same concept as with any of the great philosophers and scientists of old. Take the world being flat for one, the denial of black holes, etc.

Someday when/if we're able to wholly use our brains we'll begin to see what humans are truly capable of.

I've used points myself against a resisting opponent on several occasions and they've proven more than worthy subjects of intense study. I'll even go out on the limb stating I believe whole-heartedly on all aspects of chi. Now, I also know how to watch for and spot the frauds, with their sly subtle body positioning during demonstrations. The only way to convince people is to have them get personally affected by it.

    Here's some evidence of a fraud... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7vBd8Z47...

Watch his body mechanics as Steve tries to carry him off the second time. Simple ST 9 hit to finish off the big guy but the other was fraud.

    Scientific proof...

Edit- I'd alos like to add that I am a non-responder, so I don't feel the pain, but I do feel the effects. Having been made sick from a strike.

  4. Yes excellent point and observation.

I beleve a great amount would take it as Gospel truth especally the younger impressionable adults who maybe have'nt had experience in life.

From not only the gracies but other well known martial artists and  in vogue styles.

    Best wishes :)***

  5. Check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qa1nzD-n2... or "Martial Arts Death Touch" on you tube.

There may be people out there who can do this stuff against a resisting opponent but it is interesting that we have never seen any evidence of it's use in UFC, Pride, WEC, Cage Rage or any other MMA promotions where competitors wear small fingerless gloves (or even none at all in some organisations and in the early UFC events). It would appear that these techniques should be able to be utilised wearing these gloves. I am not hating or disrespecting anyone. I am just saying where is the impartial evidence that a person can effectivly use this against a resisting opponent. If you can show me this evidence I will believe. I believe in right hooks, thai round kicks, front kicks to the groin and rear naked chokes because I've seen them used effectively. In particular I believe in the effectiveness of the full nelson (or double nelson as it is sometimes known) and the Juji-gatame or crucifix armbar as it is sometimes known as I have used these techniques to restrain extremely aggressive, angry, violent, large, physically strong adult males in situations where individuals have been drunk and have assaulted others in the pub and when I worked supporting an individual who had  an Acquired brain injury and resultant behavioural problems.

    TM.

  6. Pressure points work. The degree to which they work depends on the muscularity of the opponent and the strength and skill of the person delivering the strike. No one is putting a well trained athlete on the floor with a finger poke. I certainly have enough experience and knowledge to know better than that. I will of course use my knowledge of pressure points whenever an opponent leaves an opening for a good shot. Even Boxers will attack the sciatic nerve when the referee isn't looking if they feel the are loosing a bout. They know this pressure point weakens the leg. Repeated blows to this area cause swelling around the nerve  and weakens in the leg. Who are the Gracies any way that people on here throw the name around like a spear?

  7. I wouldn't care if they did it, if you're talking about knocking someone out by hitting them in the forearm while holding a pressure point, I still wouldn't believe it.

  8. Well, it's because of Royce Gracie that people know about Brazilian (Gracie) Jujitsu, so I'm sure many people would believe them. Even though I already know that pressure points are VERY effective, but only if you know and are trained to do them right.

  9. The Gracie's credibility would be in serious jeopardy, as everybody who has trained knows that pressure points don't work against resisting opponents.

I've done alot of training including full-contact sparring, so my opinion is based on personal experience.

Seems like it is you who is biased towards something you heard regarding pressure points.

  10. I have grown too old, and have lost too much flexibility, to walk around with my head stuck up my anal o*****e anymore...take me WEEKS of chiropractic care to straighten my back out when I do such things anymore, so I have decided that the best course of action is to avoid it entirely.

Having said that, I personally don't need the Gracies to tell me if pressure points work or not. I have used them with much success against my 17 year-old stepson who thinks he's big enough to take down the old man. He calls it cheating, I call it wisdom and treachery overcoming youth and enthusiasm...

Personally, anyone stating that something works or doesn't work based solely on what they heard from Joe's brother's cousin's half-sister's uncle on his mother's side, is either a fool, or a troll (sometimes both simultaneously...lol)

  11. LOL I could just imagine someone trying to stop Brock Lesnar's 300 pound frame from taking them down and pounding them by using a pressure point.

Look there is an open invitation to any preesure point Guru's to come into any of the Gracie academies and show us how to put our heads up our asses .  I am a very respecful multi art practioner but Sensei the way in which you chose to word your question is very insulting, I find it hard to believe that someone as proficient as you claim to be in Pressure Point Striking would come here to insult another style or maybe you aren't proficient but know someone who is, I don't know what your angle is but don't understand the disrespect..

    EDIT:  SENSEI

I understand what you are saying but if confident in the art you are trained in, why woulde you entertain the uneducated folks with baiting a harsh reponse??  Instead provide some sort of evidence that it what your saying works or don't and leave it alone and go on knowing you can pull off the Vulcan neck Pinch.  Gracies and any top Grapplers use pressure points everyday to cause a change in position or for an outright submission and are educated on ho wthe body works and responds.  Maybe this should be directed to those who train only for sport as that seems what your post applies to, the Gracies have so much credibility because they proved their pudding and changed the landscape of martial arts more than even the 70's and Kung Fu Flicks, and if the Gracie's were shown something that improves their art, they would incorporate it.

I mean no disrespect Sensei, I trained when it was style vs style so I have taken abuse regarding laying around on my back, oh that wrestling is so cute, and as many g*y comments as you can think of, so I understand the frustration, maybe ignore the uneducated and educate us, show us the proof that the Gracie's have been able to provide, I will be the first to eat crow and apologize for my mistake, problem is I have been waiting years for that proof

  12. I will only believe it if they prove it on Mythbusters...
